Emma's Enlightenments: Work on building healthy habits
This Week’s Advice: Healthy habits. Since being in college, so much has happened both mentally and socially. Coming to college can be such a culture shock. From moving away, to meeting new people and doing new things. It can be rough adjusting and taking in these new experiences. So far, I have fallen and gotten back up about a million times. Every week brings something new to brush off but, that’s all you have to do. Brush off the bad, and bathe in the good. Recen

The 'bum delirious: The review of Don Toliver's OCTANE
Don Toliver is what some may call an acquired taste but consider me convinced. I’ve been a pseudo-fan of Toliver since the Covid era, when he first started getting popular with the release of “No Idea” and various other songs from the “Heaven or Hell” album. Toliver has been slowly growing in fame since his TikTok blastoff, releasing several albums since 2020. Some of his biggest hits include “NEW DROP,” “No Pole” and “After Party.” His most recent album, however, “OCTANE,

Anais' Annotations: "Misery" by Stephen King
During the recent January snow day, many people were concerned the road conditions would cause car accidents-- kind of like the one that sets off the events of Stephen King’s “Misery” (1987). When considering the possibility of road issues with the weather, most folks probably were not worried about being abducted from their vehicle and held hostage until they were forced to write an entire book. That is exactly the predicament that King’s main character, Paul Sheldon, fi

Love is Blind
Troy’s University Activities Council (UAC) held a dating game event last Wednesday focused on the personality of students rather than their looks in preparation for Valentine's Day. Whitechapel bathes my ears with good, good gravel
Usually, I’m not the biggest metal listener, especially not the type of metal Whitechapel is, but a friend of mine recommended this album to me, and I was interested enough to give it a spin. The album has a tendency of bathing my ears in gravelly guitar sound throughout, which is great. That’s not to say that it doesn’thave melodic parts, though. The melodic parts of the album shine through in the breakdowns of certain songs and meld with the gravelly sounding guitar reall

Don't deny yourself happiness
Emma's Enlightenments As people, we have the ability to control the way we go about life. We have our own mindsets, which we can then act on. We have our own way of thinking, moving and being. Whether or not we carry ourselves positively or negatively is up to us. We control the way we carry ourselves, as I have said before, and see life. Why live through hate when you can live through love? I felt this was a good topic for this week because it can relate to so man

Troy's Next Intramural Sport: Water Pong
Intramural sports go through a cycle of various games throughout the year. However, the next one coming up is a classic college party staple: water pong. Water pong is a game where 10 cups, filled with water, are set up on either side of a table. A line is drawn, and the object of the game is to shoot a ping pong ball across the table into the cups on the other side to relieve them. Whichever team is the first to relieve all the cups on the other team’s side is the winner.
