Raising money for a good cause – that is what Miss Troy University did Friday afternoon in the Trojan Center. Anna Grace Tucker, a junior business administration major from Huntsville, Alabama, invited students to donate and “Go Red” for the American Heart Association.

Tucker was able to teach students about heart health and how students can improve their own. While she was talking, attendees were able to donate to the American Heart Association either with cash or through a QR code.

"I hope to educate people about what heart health is and how to keep your body healthy," Tucker said.

As students walked by, Tucker gave them ideas on what they can do to better their heart health. She also recommended students take up some form of exercise like dancing, walking or even going to the gym.

"It makes me feel great knowing that I am helping thousands of women who struggle with cardiovascular disease," Tucker said.

Tucker presented facts about cardiovascular health and warning signs at her booth, as well as the warning signs of a stroke.

Alexys Fraizer, a senior computer science major from Tuskegee, Alabama, donated to Go Red. She told the Tropolitan staff she was happy to support a good cause.

"It's a great feeling, honestly," Frazier said.

Miss Troy University isn't going red by herself. She's also bringing her family with her. Her mother, Irene Tucker, was also on hand to help out and spread the word.

"When people donate today, it's wonderful,” Irene Tucker said. “It's going to push the platform further and faster, so we can have a healthy Alabama and a healthy America.”

The Go Red for heart health platform is in partnership with Miss Alabama, and it is required that the participants of Miss Alabama raise funds for the organization.

Tucker has a goal of $300 for her fundraising, and she has raised $101 according to her digital donation link.
