F1 vs NASCAR: May the best win

High speed races, fun circuits, cars-- is there really a difference is Formula One and NASCAR?

The answer easy answer is yes-- here are many differences between the two racing worlds.

To start off, the two cars are completely distinctive styles.

NASCAR races with what is called a “stock car,” which is designed for high contact, bumper to bumper racing. F1 races with open wheel/open cockpit cars, which are made for more high-speed, curvy tracks. The tires of the F1 car are made to stick out due to the ability they then have to cut through the air.

In F1, each team can also design their own cars, while in NASCAR, the cars all follow a template design.

Each car is designed to operate the best on its own tracks.

Speaking of tracks, they are entirely different. F1drives on either specialized road courses or street circuits while NASCAR drives primarily oval shaped, high banking tracks.

Due to the car design and the shape of the tracks, the way the drivers operate is also different.

In NASCAR, for the drivers use a technique called “drafting” to get up to the speed they want. This technique is characterized by the drivers in the pack getting as close to the back of the driver in front of them as they can, and sometimes adjusting the engine horsepower.

They do this because the weight of the car impacts the speed. This can lead to insanely close proximity between cars and a higher risk of wrecks.

With F1, the aerodynamic design of the car makes it so the drivers can get the speed they want without “drafting.” They have open wheels and an open cockpit, and the cars are made of lightweight carbon fiber. They have front and rear wings that open and close to move through the air easier.

When it comes to the race weekend itself, the two are completely different worlds as well.

NASCAR has the southern hospitality vibe with tailgating, barbeques and shared food before the race. On the other hand, F1 is like if high-end fashion met racing. It is luxurious with champagne, famous peopleand elite paddock passes.

The race length is also a differing factor between the two. NASCAR races test the endurance of a driver with races being three to four hours long. F1races typically end in maximum 90 minutes.

Overall, both are great experiences with fast cars, crazy crashes and lots of racing of course, so may the best motorsport win.
