Save yourself first, snap back to reality
Emma's Enlightenments This week has been hard for me. For a moment, I wasn’t sure what to write about. How can I give advice when I, myself, am lost? That’s when I snapped myself back into reality. I have to save myself. If no one is there, be there. Sometimes, you have to take your own steps to being okay, which means being alone for a little while. There won’t be someone there to pick you up every time you fall. You can’t expect to always have another set of hands. Y

Looking back and falling forward
Emma's Enlightements This Week’s Advice: Looking Back and Falling Forward. Welcome back! Even though it’s an adjustment going back and forth, I hope everyone had a much needed, restful break. I had a lot to think about during my time back home. Over the break, I learned something important: you can look back, but don’t fall back. Not feeling your emotions is worse than feeling them too much. Likewise, it’s better to feel them as they come, rather than to feel them

Don't keep reopening the same wound
Emma's Enlightentments This Week’s Advice: Content with Aloneness Something I have been struggling with is being able to be alone. Because of this, I have led myself to the wrong arms and to the wrong people. A lot. I wanted someone to be there, so I ran to the nearest person around me. I needed someone to just put an arm around me and tell me everything was going to be okay. I needed interaction and reassurance, even if it was from the wrong people. This led to mo
