The Troy football team announced the hire of Adam Austin as its offensive coordinator to start the new year. Head coach Gerad Parker snagged Austin from Tarleton State, where he led the Texans’ FCS highest-scoring offense.

Through the 2025 season, Tarleton State averaged 42.4 points and 457.6 yards per game. In Austin’s two seasons leading the offense, the Texans averaged 36.6 points per game.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add Adam and Aubri to the Troy football family,” Parker said in a Troy Athletics press release. “He is an experienced play-caller at multiple levels of college football, where there has been one constant – success.”

Aside from leading the FCS in scoring, Tarleton State was the second-highest scoring team in all of Division I football, scoring 50-plus points five times. The Texans earned a signature FBS win over Army early in the season.

“Adam is coming off back-to-back seasons at Tarleton State where the program was elevated to new heights behind his explosive offense,” Parker said. “He’s a great football coach and, more importantly, a great man.”

Tarleton State earned the No. 4 seed in the FCS playoffs after winning 12 games and a conference title, becoming the first team since Troy in 1993 to reach the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs in its first two years of eligibility.

“The decision to come to Troy was an easy one and there were several things that aligned perfectly with my passion for helping build championship-caliber teams,” Austin said to Troy Athletics. “First and foremost, I was drawn to the visionary leadership of Gerad Parker, whose forward-thinking approach to the game emphasizes innovation, player development and a relentless pursuit of excellence both on and off the field.”

In just two years with the Texans, Austin coached five All-Americans on the offense. This past season, running back Tre Page logged 104.9 yards per game and was one of the top rushers in the nation. In 2024, Austin coached the nation’s leading rusher and leading receiver in Kayvon Britten and Darius Cooper.

Prior to taking the offensive coordinator role at Tarleton State, Austin was the quarterbacks coach for the Texans for four seasons. The former Arizona quarterback has made stops at Grambling State, Marshall, Midwestern State, Eastern Kentucky and Missouri Southern State.

Austin looks to lead the Trojans offense into 2026 and improve the production of a unit that struggled at times in 2025.
