After finishing 33-24 in 2025, the Troy softball team retooled and prepared for the 2026 campaign. The first step in that process was attacking the transfer portal. Dating back to May, the Trojans signed nine players.
Four members of the class arrived in Troy from Power Four programs. The class is comprised of players expected to contribute on day one – each player coming with their own skill set.
"We are obviously biased, but we feel really good about these additions and the potential that this softball team has moving forward," said Head Coach Eric Newell to Troy Athletics.
The 2025 transfer class was kicked off by the signing of infielder Sophia Jenkins. Jenkins comes in from Grayson College, where she played all 48 games in her redshirt freshman season. The NJCAA All-American broke out in her sophomore season with a .438 batting average and a program record 108 RBI’s.
"Sophia is a special player in a lot of different ways. She has incredible power, a strong arm and is versatile defensively,” Newell said.
Kalee Rochinski headlined the next batch of future Trojans to sign on the dotted line. The former UTSA Roadrunner is coming off a season where she posted a .440 on-base percentage. In the 54 games she started, she threw out 20 baserunners from behind the dish.
Another member of the class is outfielder Amity White. The Pike County, Alabama, native is transferring in from South Alabama. White posted six doubles and a triple while batting .252 last season.
Lydia Kirby joins the team after earning a JUCO All-American selection last season. The utility player recorded a 1.230 OPS and 103 RBIs last season with Volunteer State.
The class was rounded out by three players with Power Four experience. Texas Tech transfer Kiley Huffman comes in looking to build on last year’s near championship run. She contributed from the plate with eight RBIs and three doubles in 40 at-bats.
She was joined by utility player Kam Munson and outfielder Kyye Ricks. Munson and Ricks both stood out on the basepaths. Last season, Munson, an NC State transfer, went 4-6 on steal attempts. Ricks, the former South Carolina Gamecock, went 8-10.
Troy also added Michigan State transfer Ella Cunningham. The two-way player excels in the circle and made five appearances for the Spartans as a freshman last season after winning MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year in 2024.
The transfer class will get their first chance to don the Power T during the fall ball portion of their schedule. In Troy’s case every game is ten innings and will be hosted at the Troy Softball Complex. Fall Ball kicks off with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Sept. 27, 2025.
