The Trojans have dominated in track and field meets both records-wise and standings-wise throughout the season. Through the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, this fact has continued to ring true.

During Monday and Tuesday, the Trojans have broken a number of personal records, broken a program record and achieved high standings throughout the meet’s women’s events. Troy also secured an individual Sun Belt Championship at the meet.

Starting off, Faith Jones blasted through her previously set 60m Hurdles record of 8.48 set earlier this season. Her time during the final round of this event was over a tenth of a second faster at 8.32.

This not only breaks Jones’ personal record, but the program record for the event once more.  The time earned Jones the top spot during the championship.

During the 400m preliminary event, Rachel Whyte not only earned sixth place but ran her personal best time of 55.71. Unfortunately, her time was disqualified during the final round of this event.

Both Abigail Carr and Aisley McMeen broke their personal records for the 5000m event, which were 19:26.21 and 19:58.00, respectively.

The Trojans were successful during their 4x400m relay event as well. The team that ran the relay consisted of Rachel Whyte, Aaliyah Murphy, Haley Wilson and Kady Schwietz. They clocked in at 3:44.60 during the event, which earned them fifth place overall.

Kady Schwietz also had a very successful showing during the pentathlon. Schwietz earned 3,704 points in the event and placed just outside the podium at fourth overall. During each individual part of the pentathlon, Schwietz never went past tenth place in terms of individual events.

She ran the seventh-place time of 9.32 during the 60m Hurdles portion of the event.

Schwietz was in sixth place in two of the individual pentathlon field events, with high jump and shot put. She leapt into the seventh-place spot for the high jump, reaching 1.56m.

Schwietz threw herself into the sixth place shot put position, throwing 11.02m.

Schweitz grabbed two personal records for herself during the pentathlon. In the long jump part of the event, Schweitz leapt to her personal best length of 5.57m. She won first place in the 800m portion of the pentathlon as well, not only running a time of 2:17.70, but also earning herself a personal best in the process.

Leshawn Clifford earned her personal best for her long jump as well, earning a score of 5.44m during the long jump event independent of the pentathlon.
