The Trojan soccer team concluded spring play Saturday, Apr. 16, with losses to Kennesaw State and Mercer in Macon, Georgia.

The Trojans ended with a 4-2-1 record, outscoring their opponents 11-5.

“We’re really happy with how the spring went for us this year,” head coach Jason Hamilton said. “The spring is all about developing players and getting more experience on the field.  In that aspect it went really well.”

This fall the Trojans will be adding 13 newcomers, 11 of which were signed on National Signing Day in February.

That lot of new players will look to improve on the Trojans’ second-place Sun Belt finish last season. The Trojans had a total record of 14-4-2 with a conference record of 6-2-1, smashing 14 career records, two single-season records and seven team records in the process.

The 2015 squad can also boast records in attendance, fewest losses and highest winning percentage in school history.

Ole Miss and Florida State, two participants in last year’s NCAA Tournament, should provide staunch competition for the Trojans this fall. The Rebels fell to Texas A&M in the third round while FSU was a No. 1 seed and advanced to the quarterfinals.

The Trojans will begin home play Aug. 28 with a game against Belmont in the Trojan Classic.
