Track and field finishes indoor regular season in Nashville

The Troy track and field team continued its incredible streak of record-breaking meets this season while in Nashville, Tennessee, last weekend during the Music City Challenge. At the meet, the Trojans broke three program records along with a number of season and personal records.

Starting off with track, Benjamin Jaudon smashed a program record and his personal best during the men’s 60m hurdles category. Jaudon ran a time of 7.90, which broke Casimir Taiwah’s 2019 record of 7.96. Jaudon won the finals for the category following his qualifying times in the preliminary and semifinal rounds, which were 8.04 and 8.01, respectively.  


Antonio Blair broke two records during the meet with his times in the men’s 600m and 800m. Blair broke the school record for the 600m with a time of 1:17.29. Blair was also second place overall during the event. During the 800m, Blair ran a time of 1:52.99, breaking his personal record.  


During the men’s 400m unseeded event, Dawson Isbell ran a time of 48.67 and earned sixth place overall. 


Records were broken in both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay event. Aaliyah Murphy, Rachel Whyte, Haley Wilsonand Kady Schwietz broke the school’s record on the women’s side with a time of 3:42.72. Romario Taylor, Antonio Blair, Dawson Isbell and Devyn Pearman broke the season’s best in the men’s relay with a time of 3:13.04. The teams received third and fourth place overall, respectively. 


Leaping into the field events, Malik Humphrey jumped 14.97m during the triple jump event, earning him the second-bestscore in school history as well as second place in the meet.  


Kady Schweitz broke the season record for the women’s long jump event with a length of 5.49m. Lilly Gerhard broke her personal record for women’s shot put with a score of 12.27m. 


The Music City Challenge was the last meet for the Trojans’ regular indoor season. The Trojans’ next stop is the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 23 and 24.
