Mom’s Homemade Cloud Cookie Recipe

I’ve been baking with my mom ever since I was little, and these cookies are still my favorite. They are like airy pockets of joy, with a crisp coating of sweetness. Not too heavy but also makes you come back for thirds. They are perfect for any type of weather and can be brought to baby showers, Christmas parties, even just a fun girl’s night in your apartment! Give it a try, and I promise, you’ll be on Cookie Cloud Nine!

Ingredients:

  • 2 egg whites (no yolk needed)

  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/8 cream of tartar

  • 6 oz of chocolate chips (any flavor you like!)

  • 3/4 cup of sugar

  • Optional: 1/4 cup of pecans

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Beat egg whites, salt, vanilla and cream of tartar until soft peaks form to look almost like whip cream. A glass bowl, as my mom and I have learned, works better!

  • Gradually add the sugar until stiff peaks form, like the tiny curl on a Dairy Queen ice cream cone.

  • Fold in chocolate chips (and pecans if you chose to) until well coated

  • Drop a spoonful onto a greased cookie sheet until you have filled the pans and emptied the bowl. This recipe should yield you about 45 cookies!

  • Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes then take out of the oven.

  • Let cool for a minute or so, then remove from pan.

  • Enjoy your cloud cookies!
