Fuse Coffee invited community members for a Valentine’s Sip and Paint night last Friday. The event was $25 and included a drink, supplies and a canvas. The painting was self-guided and participants had a choice of Snoopy or Woodstock.

The Fuse Coffee manager, Emily Robbins, is a senior graphic design major from Andalusia, Alabama, and wanted to do something fun and artistic for the Fuse regulars.

“I thought this would be a good foot in the door, and, you know, there’s so many artistic people in Fuse,” Robbins said.  “It’s a fun little activity."

Nearly 15 people signed up for the event, got their drinks, painted and talked. Guests were able to choose which drinks they wanted out of the options available.

“I think this is a great event,” said Alivia Radovich, a senior English major from Geneva, Alabama. “I think sometimes a lot ofcouples are too busy to kind of plan something out for each other.”

Events like the sip and paint are not only a great opportunity for couples on Valentine’s Day, but they bring both the college students and locals together. They also bring business to Fuse.

“Coming here and seeing a good sense of community is really nice,” said Troy alumnus Nathan Braisted. “I think it’s a great vibe to hang out with a friend or a loved one, or even by yourself.

“This place is a beautiful little spot in downtown Troy.”

This activity is also a good idea for couples who maybe aren’t interested in a movie date but still want to relax. Overall, the event was a unique way to get into the holiday.

“It’s not competitive,” Braisted said.  “You don’t have to worry about being better than the other person.”

Robbins hopes to hold more events throughout the year, both artistic and just fun for the community. There were mentions of a board game night, trivia night or bingo nights.
