Troy men’s tennis fell short to Jacksonville State, 4-1, at the Jax State Tennis Courts on Saturday. The Trojans fall to 7-4 on the season after falling to an undefeated Gamecock squad to continue non-conference play.
Troy started the match off strong with a doubles point advantage against Jacksonville State. Sophomore Thiago Drozdowski and freshman Stephan Tavares Noale continue being a dynamic duo by winning on Court one, 6-3, with senior Yeray Andres Pastor and sophomore Henrique de Brito winning on Court three, 6-2.
As the singles matches started, the Trojans were unable to build on their early advantage. During the tough competition, graduate Charlie Penma, senior Alin Fatu and juniors David Krasner and Aman Dahiya dominated in singles play by winning in straight sets on their courts.
The Trojans will take on South Carolina State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. for their next matchup.
Following the match, Troy welcomes in-state foes Alabama A&M and UAB to the Wiregrass over the weekend. Troy takes on Alabama A&M on Friday before playing host to UAB on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m.
