Phenyo Sebata shot 4-under par in the Lady Red Wolves Classic as Troy finished seventh Tuesday at the Sage Meadows Country Club.

Sebata, who played as an individual and her score did not count towards Troy’s total score, started slow, shooting 3-over in round one. However, the South African was able to rebound with a strong 5-under performance in round two and another solid 2-under in round three.

Sebata’s second-round performance was the sixth-best outing in a single round in program history. In her collegiate debut, she would finish tied for seventh, carried by 12 birdies.

The seventh-place overall finish would be the best for the Trojans so far this season. Troy led the field in birdies with a combined 48 throughout the event. Despite finishing in the middle of the pack, the performance was a 10-stroke improvement compared to last year’s Lady Red Wolves Classic.

Leading the Trojans on the team score side was first-year Anna Roldan Sewald. The Argentinian had her best performance of the season, as she sank 13 birdies, tied for third in the field. Roldan Sewald finished 2-over, tied for 23rd.

Roberta Alverez shot 3-over across the three rounds, good enough to be tied for 27th. The first-year Texan led the field on par-5s, shooting 6-under throughout the event.

Fourth-year Manya Saini shot well in the first and third rounds, shooting 1-under in both. The India native finished tied for 36th, shooting 5-over in the event.

Third-year Mathilda Ringbolm, the only Trojan to compete in last year’s Lady Red Wolves Classic, improved on her previous performance by a massive 31 strokes. In her first start of the season, the Sweden native shot 5-over, including a 1-over first round, to tie with Saini in 36th.

First-year Mara Daejer would finish 52nd, shooting 9-over on the event. The Bolivian had her best round in the third round, as she shot four birdies en route to a 1-over final round.

Troy now looks forward to finishing off the fall portion of the season in the Sunshine State, as they head to Miami Lakes Golf Club for the Pat Bradley Invitational held by Florida International.
