Trojans fall to 5-3 in non-conference play with loss to Bulldogs on the road
The Troy men’s tennis team took an unfortunate 4-3 loss to Samford this past Sunday evening. Â
Troy fell after a tight match, with the Trojans starting off strong in doubles play.Â
On court one, the pairing of Thiago Drozdowski and Stephan Tavares Noale secured a 6-2 victory. Ryusei Miyazato and Luciano Alcocer added in another win on court two, 6-3. The win earned Troy the doubles point to open the match.Â
The Bulldogs pulled ahead during the singles matches, securing four winning sets. The Trojans fought hard, managing to get two straight set wins from sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto and senior YerayAndres Pastor. However, it was not enough as the Trojans ultimately came up short.Â
After a Wednesday doubleheader against Coastal Alabama and Spring Hill at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, the Trojans hit the road to play Jacksonville State. The match in Jacksonville, Ala., will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14.Â
