Troy’s quarterbacks put in work during spring practices.

After finishing their 2024 season with a 3-1 November, including an upset against the then Sun Belt East leading Georgia Southern Eagles in Statesboro and a 52-20 thrashing of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in the final game of the season, Troy football got back on the gridiron last week for spring practices.

“The thing that comes to mind to me is how we finished,” said Gerad Parker to Troy Athletics. “Now it’s a new year and we need to pick up exactly where we left off to get better.

“We’re not looking left, we’re not looking right, we’re not looking behind us, we’re moving forward to get better.”

The Trojans will look to use the spring and the practices that it brings to take the fall season by storm and silence all of the critics from last season. Parker enters his second season at the helm of the program.

“I want all of us to control what we can, me included, about our improvement on a daily basis,” said Parker. “Our improvement to get better at every phase is all that we are talking about.”

The Trojans were just in the NCAA mandated helmet and shorts for the accumulation period.

Troy will practice five times before they take a pause for a weeklong spring break.

The Trojans practiced next to the construction site of the brand-new indoor practice facility.

“There is a price of progress, and that’s dirt blowing a little bit, and nobody’s going to gripe about that,” said Parker. “The progress is being seen by all of our recruits and visitors in addition to our staff and current players, and it just builds morale.”

The Trojans return stars on both sides of the ball with thousand-yard rusher and Sun Belt Second Team All-American Running back Damien Taylor and Sun Belt Honorable Mention Linebacker Jordan Stringer.

“There are a bunch of people out here that you already know the names of,” said Parker. “We know who we are much better on both sides.”
