The Troy football team signs posters for fans at Fan Day.

Troy football fans gathered at Veterans Memorial Stadium Saturday for the annual fall Fan Day, where fans got to see the intrasquad scrimmage and had a chance to meet the team and second-year Head Coach Gerad Parker.

“Well, [the team is] always happy when they have a crowd here,”  Parker said. “There’s no better way to serve the crowd back.

“We have a fan experience for them up on our concourse to say thank you and get ready for them to put a name with a face before it really kicks off.”

Troy’s defense shined during the intrasquad scrimmage, showing up the offense and taking over in the stadium. Parker noted the imbalance on the field.

“Today was unbalanced,” Parker said. “The defense cut off the offense’s tail and did it in the stadium.

“I’m very proud of our offense; progress was made. We just have to tighten everything up.”

Starting quarterback Goose Crowder gave his thoughts on how the offense performed and how they will correct it before the first game. Although Crowder missed most of last season with injuries, he looks to bounce back in 2025.

“We just have to pick it up in some areas,” Crowder said. “It starts with me as the quarterback, getting our offense going and being successful.”

Crowder is returning for his third year at Troy, and the second as starting quarterback, after suffering a season-ending injury last year.

Running back Trey Cooley, a Georgia Tech transfer, says he can’t wait to get into the season with his new teammates.

“I am really excited to compete with these guys,” Cooley said. “They have accepted me as a transfer, and it’s been lovely here.

“It’s a brotherhood. Just being able to compete with my brothers is what I am excited for.”

Parker’s press conference will be on zoom the following Monday at 11:35 a.m.  Trojan Talk will air on Mondays at 7 p.m., live from Baumhowers.

Troy kicks off its season in the Vet on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. against the Nicholls State Colonels.

Troy soccer and volleyball will also be holding their own Fan Day for fans to meet the athletes and get a signed poster. Soccer fan day will be Friday, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. after the home opener. Volleyball will hold its fan day after the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m.
