Troy men’s basketball is rolling through conference play, as the Trojans are 6-1 in conference action – winners of their last three. A contributor to the Trojan’s push to repeat as Sun Belt Conference champions is redshirt junior Cobi Campbell.

Campbell has helped build Troy’s three-game win streak with complete performances. The Puyallup, Washington, native began the week by setting career highs in points, field goals and 3-pointers. He followed that performance by hitting two big treys to help push Troy past Arkansas State.

“It felt good early in the game – it was just about trying to stay in attack mode and keep finding rhythm shots,” Campbell said after the win over Southern Miss. “It was one of those things where it keeps going throughout the night.”

Against Southern Miss, Campbell dropped 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting and went 6-for-9 from long range. His scoring outburst is the second highest single-game point total by a Trojan this season – Cobi’s brother Cooper set the mark at 32 in Troy’s triple-overtime loss to USC earlier this year.

In a game with the top spot in the conference at stake, Campbell continued to roll. While the box score shows 11 points, he was one of five Trojans to reach double-digits points.

Campbell connected from deep three times, including two to close out the game in the second half. One came as part of an 11-0 run with 7:35 left in the game. He then pushed Troy to its largest lead of the game with another three-pointer with three minutes left.

On the season, Campbell averages just under 10.7 points per game on 44%shooting. From long distance, he’s second on the team with 44 3-pointers made. On the defensive end, he’s racked up 18 steals.

Campbell and the Trojans will look to extend their win streak on the road. Their quest for conference supremacy continues with a midweek stop in Norfolk, Virginia, to take on the Monarchs of ODU. Following that matchup, they are set to travel to Statesboro, Georgia, to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles.

Troy’s battle with Georgia Southern is set for Saturday, Jan. 24 with a 2 p.m. tip.
