Former Troy pitcher Libby Baker earned a Rawlings Golden Glove Award following her final season with the Trojans last spring. Baker is the first Sun Belt Conference player to ever receive the award, given by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The Golden Glove Award is given to one player from each position for their defensive performance throughout the season. In her fifth and final season with the Trojans, Baker put up an impressive 59 assists and 104 putouts over the course of her 32 games in the circle. She did not commit a single error.
Along with the Golden Glove, Baker was named to the NFCA South All-Region team. She was joined on that list by teammates Jade Sinness and Taylor McKinney.
Baker led the Trojans to a 34-22 final record in the 2024 season. The team fell short in the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals to Louisiana, the eventual conference champions. Her efforts did help pave the way to a sixth consecutive 30-plus win season, excluding a Covid-shortened 2020 year.
Over her five years as a Trojan, Baker pitched over 400 innings, with an ERA of 3.60 and a record of 37-28. At the plate, she earned 160 hits, 69 runs and a batting average of .305.
Libby Baker graduated from Troy University last spring with a degree in graphic design. Troy Softball will look to build off of her contributions in the spring of 2025.
