Trojans finish home matches, travel to Texas State

The Troy women’s tennis team split their final two home matches as seniors Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Gabrielle Leslie collected their last wins at Lunsford Tennis Complex.
This past Saturday, Troy swept Louisiana 4-0 at home to garner its fourth consecutive match victory.
Troy jumped out to the early lead with 6-1 and 6-4 doubles wins on courts one and two, respectively.
Maria Guirguis overwhelmed her opponent as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court two to extend the early Troy lead to 2-0.
Valeriia Avdeeva also delivered Troy a lopsided victory and she dismantled her line three opponent in similar 6-1, 6-1 fashion.
Avdeeva has not dropped a singles match since January and has 15 consecutive victories in singles.
Senior Ramadan-Amin secured the 4-0 sweep of the Ragin’ Cajuns with a straight-sets 6-2, 6-4 win on court five in what would become her final match victory as a Trojan.
The remaining matches went unfinished with Troy firmly in control.
The Trojans then hosted Georgia Southern in their final home match of the season and recognized Leslie and Ramadan-Amin prior to match play.
Troy was unable to muster up a victory in doubles and quickly fell behind 2-0 before eventually dropping the match 4-1.
Despite the overall loss, Leslie fought out a tough first set and proceeded to dismantle her opponent 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 in her final home match as a Trojan in the top singles spot.
Leslie has won three consecutive matches going into the final regular season contest against Texas State this coming Saturday.
Leslie stepped into the top singles spot this season after dominating the singles six line with an outstanding 20-1 record in the 2024 season.
The Prairie View A&M transfer possesses a 6-10 record this season but has been excellent in Sun Belt Conference play as of late.
Unlike Leslie, Ramadan-Amin has spent her entire collegiate career as a Trojan.
She was named the 2021-22 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year as a true freshman thanks to a 12-5 record in singles.
Last year, she was named 2023-24 All-Sun Belt Third Team Doubles with Leena Metwally as they dominated Sun Belt opponents 7-0.
Ramadan-Amin will look to secure her 50th career singles victory as Troy travels to Texas State on Apr. 19 for its final match of the regular season.
Afterwards, the Trojans will head to Rome, Georgia, for the SBC Tournament on Apr. 24-27 -- seeding will be finalized after the last set of matches this coming weekend.
