After losing its first six matches, the Troy women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the spring season by defeating UAB 4-2 on the road in Birmingham.

A big part of the Trojans’ win was a clean sweep in doubles play as the duo of Jiayuan Xue and Efriliya Herlina shut out the Blazers’ Natalie Voss and Taylor Factor 6-0. Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky won their match 6-4, while Alicia Rodriguez and Luisa Ferrauti won by default without a result.

In singles play, Herlina and Ferrauti brought the heat, downing their respective opponents by a score of 6-0. Ohta had to battle for her singles win though, topping UAB’s Reghan Lynch 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

The Blazers took the other three of the six singles matches, including an unfinished match between Karaky and Hana Sisirak that was cut short in the second set.

The Trojans will have an opportunity to start a winning streak when they return home to take on New Orleans on Sunday followed by a matchup with USC Upstate the next day.
