Troy returns home for ULM match up

Troy football looks to rebound as the Trojans face ULM Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The last time the Trojans and Warhawks played, Troy took the 37-14 victory in Monroe, Louisiana. Since Troy and ULM began playing in the same division in 2022, the Trojans are 3-1 in matchups against the Warhawks. After the loss to Louisiana, head coach Gerad Parker wants Troy to be consistent and focused heading into the ULM matchup.
"We had a distracted week last week, and this football team looked distracted," Parker said. "We weren't repeatable in our habits, and it wasn't as clean in many ways on and off the field.
"It's got to change drastically for us to play at a higher level to get what we want in the back half of the season. We got to create some prep week and stuff we do during the week that are repeatable because right now, it's just too inconsistent."
The Warhawks are winless so far in 2026, with their closest matchup coming against FCS team Southeastern Louisiana, where they lost 38-35. Despite ULM coming in 0-6, Parker praised its head coach Bryant Vincent for keeping the team the way he wants it.
"Coach Vincent has not lost this football team even with their record," Parker said. "They play extremely hard."
"You can turn on the tape against Louisiana Tech where they shut Louisiana Tech out in the first half. This is not a team that plays with an energy level, physicality or anything like that, that you would turn the tape on and say they're 0-6."
Despite having its season low against Louisiana, the Troy offense still averages 402.7 yards per game and has not had less than 250 yards in a game yet. For sixth-year offensive lineman Luke Pettit, he knows that the identity of this offense is to make players.
"We got a lot of explosive playmakers," Pettit said. "We got a lot of guys who are going to fight, work hard and keep going through the echo of the whistle.
"It's just a matter of being consistent in doing that and not getting behind on what we're trying to do."
Despite the loss, the Troy defense allowed the least amount of offensive yards against Louisiana in the last three games. Sixth-year Ty Cleamons said while the Louisiana game is done and over with, the team is ready to go back out and play this week.
"There’s no do-overs in football,” Cleamons said. “You can't go back and play the game again, but I think we're just ready to get back to work."
"We're almost itching to fix our mistakes and get back out there."
The Trojans and Warhawks battle at the Vet on Saturday at 3 p.m. Those who can’t make it to the Vetcan watch it live on ESPN+ or listen to it on the Troy Sports Media Network.
