It has been nearly 10 years since Bruno Mars released a single album and nearly five years since he released an album with Silk Sonic. With the release of his new song “I Just Might” and announcement of his new album “The Romantic,” fans across campus are excited to hear what Mars has in store for his fans.
“When Bruno announced his new album, there were actual screams,” said Kayla Burrell, a junior exercise physiology major from Marbury, Alabama. “I love the new song and cannot wait to listen to the new album, as I have been a fan of Bruno since middle school.
“I know every single song off every album.”
People online are quickly comparing this new song to other Bruno Mars songs and are saying that the 40-year-old singer has lost a step. However, many on Troy’s campus disagree with this take, saying they like the new song.
“It’s different than his past songs, but I think it still matches the music he creates,” said Lauren Williams, a senior exercise physiology major from Alabaster, Alabama. “He has a lot of well-known songs that built his career, and I think ‘I Just Might’ could be added into the mix of some of his great hits.”
Even people who are not the biggest fans of his music still think the pop star has not lost a step and appreciate the new music.
"I’m not the biggest Bruno Mars fan, but I still like the song,” said Kindel Ansley, a senior criminal justice major from Ozark, Alabama. “It might not make my playlist, but if someone put it on, I wouldn’t mind.”
With the new album being released in February, Mars announced he will be going on tour soon, with fans already saving up to get their seats at one of the concerts.
“I want to go see him on tour, but Bruno is outrageous [with his prices], but hopefully, we will be able to be in the room where it happens,” Burrell said.
“I am looking forward to the new album, and I’m trying to save my money and convince my boyfriend to go to his concert with me,” Williams said.
With less than a month left until “The Romantics” release, Bruno fans do not have much longer to wait, with anticipation only growing for the release.
