The Trojans volleyball team couldn’t get out of its losing streak as it dropped its seventh straight match on Wednesday, Oct.8, losing 3-0 to rival South Alabama.

“South Alabama played very well,” said head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick. “They put a consistent effort on every ball on defense and we have got to figure out a way to do the same thing on every ball.”

For only the second time all season the Trojans had no player get double digit kills. The Trojans offense was led by junior middle hitter Darby Griff with 9 kills,

Junior setter Tineille Waggoner actually had the highest attack percentage at .250, as well as having 29 assists. The Trojan defense was led again by junior libero Ali Dowdall, who had 18 digs in the match.

The Trojans are now 9-11 and 1-7 in Sun Belt play. They travel to UL-Monroe and UL-Lafayette over the weekend.

“Whether we are ready or not, we’re going,” said Kirkpatrick. “We’ve got to do better, we’ve got to better, and we expect more out of ourselves.”

Troy plays at home again on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. against UALR.
