Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally celebrate a point.
The Troy women’s tennis team is hoping to build off a program-best nine Sun Belt Conference wins last season.
The Trojans went an impressive 9-1 defending their home court and finished the 2024 spring season with 16 wins.
Troy reached the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semifinals this past season before being ousted by Appalachian State in 4-1 fashion.
Troy did not add any players to the roster, but the team lost two seniors to graduation.
Kristina Kukaras, who was one of the two graduates and the top singles player for the Trojans, elected to return and serve as the team’s graduate assistant.
Senior Hagar Ramadan-Amin will look to build on her end of season successes she won five consecutive matches in the final month of the regular season. The duo of Ramadan-Amin and sophomore Leena Metwally went 7-0 in doubles during conference play and 8-1 overall, earning an All-Sun Belt Third Team Doubles nod.
Metwally had an excellent freshman season in singles as well, racking up 16 total wins mostly as the fifth line of singles.
Senior Gabrielle Leslie led the team in singles victories this past season with her near-perfect 20-1 record. Leslie ended the spring season on a nine-match winning streak.
Juniors Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva put together an excellent fall season with wins over multiple Power Five opponents both as a duo and individually. Avdeeva had victories over players from Mississippi State, Louisville and Georgia in the final match of the spring season. Guirguis added her own wins over players from Auburn, Mississippi State and Louisville.
Sophomore Emilia Namyslo will take a big step up into a singles role as she did not appear in singles in the 2024 spring season.
Head coach Rawia Elsisi and the Trojans will open their spring season at Kennesaw State on Jan. 26 before playing host to their home opener against Florida A&M on Jan. 28.
