The Troy soccer team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, where it fell 2-0 in a lost to Georgia State. The Trojans fell to 0-4-3 in conference play after losing to the Panthers, who are second in the Sun Belt East.

The Panthers struck early, knocking in two goals within the first 17 minutes of the match. Despite the loss, the Trojans back line held Georgia State to only 10 shots. It’s the fewest shots the Trojans have allowed in a conference match so far this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Keely Cash made her first career start, recording five saves for the Trojans. Cash was starting in place of the injured Taylor Richards.

On the offensive end, Troy had nine total shot attempts, with four of the attempts being on goal. Forwards Alaina Uncapher and Danielle Trovato and midfielders Hailey Phillips and Hayden Barnett all contributed to the Trojans offensive efforts. Trovato led the Trojans with two shots, including a shot on goal.

“We’ve got three matches left and we just have to move on to the next,” said head coach Stuart Gore to Troy Athletics.

Next Sunday, the Trojans will return to action as they head on the road to Monroe, Louisiana, where they will face off against ULM. Following the match against the Warhawks, the Trojans will close out the regular season with their two remaining home matches.

The first takes place on Oct. 24 against Louisiana, and the final match against rival South Alabama is on Oct. 29. Both matches will be held at the Troy Soccer Complex where the Trojans will battle to restore order on their home field.
