The Troy Trojans baseball program has started the season off in spectacular fashion, winning seven straight games to start the season. The Trojans hosted Stony Brook in a three-game series over the weekend.

On Friday night, the Trojans had to mount a comeback as they were trailing against the Seawolves 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Junior William Sullivan sparked the comeback for the Trojans as he hit a home run that led to seven runs being scored in the eighth inning.

The score was then 9-4 in favor of Troy, which would end up being the final score.

The Trojans found themselves in another hole on Saturday, down 10-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning against the Seawolves. But a comeback was never in doubt, as Troy would go on to score nine unanswered runs throughout the game to ensure victory, 15-11 over Stony Brook.

The Trojans also set a new school record for the most home runs hit in a game with seven.

The final game of the series with Stony Brook proved to be anything but comfortable for Troy.

The Trojans jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning, but that’s when things started to take a turn.

Stony Brook scored five runs in the ninth inning bringing the score to 9-7 in favor of Troy. The Trojans were forced to make three pitching changes to stop the Seawolves’ comeback. However, the Trojans were able to hold off Stony Brook to win 9-7 and take the series, 3-0.

Troy will look to build on this competitive spirit that saw them mount comebacks and remain unbeaten when they host UAB on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m., at Riddle-Pace Field.
