Troy baseball is off to a hot start to the 2025 campaign. Hot enough that they have

climbed as high as No. 19 in D1 Baseball’s latest Top 25 rankings. Contributing to

the team’s success is senior outfielder Steven Meier.

Meier, a senior transfer from Old Dominion, has tallied 20 hits in 45 at-bats up to

this point – going 7-for-11 with five RBIs in the team’s recent series sweep over the

back-to-back Ivy League Champion Penn Quakers. One of those hits was a home

run in game two of the series. He followed that up the next day by going 2-for-4,

reaching via doubles both times.

Transferring in, Meier has proven to be vital to the team as he’s become an

everyday starter. This is in part due to the spark his bat provides the Trojans offense,

as he’s driven in nine runs to date.

His success started well before this series, as he’s recorded a hit in every appear-

ance expect his start against UAB. It is noteworthy to mention that he suffered a hit

by pitch on two of his three at-bats.

The Kennewick, Washington, product has been able to draw 11 walks this season

– four coming against Penn. While on base, he’s been perfect on all nine of his steal

attempts.

The veteran also has shown up for Troy on the defensive side of the diamond as

well. Meier currently boasts a .962 fielding percentage.

Success is not new for Meier, as he lettered in three sports in high school – baseball,

wrestling and football. His success translated to the collegiate level as he entered his

sophomore season at Columbia Basin College both a preseason All-American and a

First Team All-American.

Following his sophomore season, Meier decided to spend his junior year at Old

Dominion. In his lone season in Norfolk, Virginia, he posted a .246 batting average,

driving in 25 RBIs.

Meier and the Trojans will have several chances to bolster their statistics this

week as they begin a long road stretch on Wednesday. Starting on Mar. 5 2025, Troy

will be in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to take on in-state rival Alabama. From there the

Trojans will be away from Riddle-Pace field until Mar. 21, 2025, when they take on

the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina.
