Troy hasn’t started off a season with four losses in its first five games since 2006. The Trojans went on to turn it around and finish that season 8-5, beating the Rice Owls 41-17 in the New Orleans Bowl.

The Trojans will travel down to Malone Stadium in Monroe, Louisiana, this weekend at 6 p.m. to take on the ULM Warhawks.

Under head coach Larry Blakeney, Troy hasn’t been very successful in Monroe. The Warhawks have dominated the Trojans the past couple times that these two teams have met.

Troy will have to bring it together and defend the deep passes and the running game up the middle if it wants to have a chance against ULM.

Junior quarterback Dontreal Pruitt did well protecting the ball against a very good Georgia defense last week and only gave up one interception. Pruitt will have to continue to improve and make the right reads to help lead the Trojans to victory.

“Dontreal did some good things against a really good team, we just need to get him the reps,”said head coach Larry Blakeney

Senior wide receiver Chandler Worthy will have to step up and make some plays on offense also this weekend if the Trojans want to get off on the right foot starting conference play.

“It’s a clean slate at this point so we can’t worry about what has happened in the past,”Worthy said.

Troy will need to do a better job at protecting the football because ULM has been phenomenal when it comes to capitalizing on turnovers.

The Warhawks have scored 28 points on turnovers this year. They also have four interceptions, so their defense has been pretty strong.

ULM only trailed LSU by 10 at the half last weekend, demonstrating their stout defense.

Troy has to execute very well on offense this weekend to get through the strong defense of the Warhawks.

The Trojans don’t have much time left to turn this season around, but hopefully the team can come together this week and defeat the Warhawks on the road.
