Men’s golf plays in Mossy Oak Collegiate

The Troy men’s golf program wrapped up play at the Mossy Oak Collegiate Invitational in West Point, Mississippi after two days of action. The Trojans placed 13th overall as a team and finished 21 over par after round three on Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojans had two top-30 individual performances in the tournament. Freshman Pablo Gracia finished tied 27th place, shooting one over par. The Logrono, Spain native led the team in birdies with 13.

Junior Brantley Scott wasn’t too far behind Gracia as he finished tied for 30th after shooting two over par over the three rounds. Scott was also just behind Gracia in birdies with 12 after the two-day event.

Junior Nick Fowlkes finished tied for 55th place after shooting seven over par in three rounds, while fellow junior Jake Springer finished tied for 67th and shot 11 over par while also notching a pair of birdies. Sophomore Will Simpson shot 20 over par for the Trojans and finished in 82nd place.

Auburn would go on to win the tournament, shooting 46 under par with five players finishing under par inside the top five. Ole Miss came in second place shooting 12 under par with Cameron Tankersley finishing in sixth place.

The Trojans will now gear up for the Sun Belt Conference tournament at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi that begins on Monday, April 22.
