The Trojans lost to Georgia Southern on Thursday night, Oct. 29, by a score of 42-10 and fell to a 1-8 record.

Troy only had 154 yards of total offense for the entire night, while it allowed the Eagles to gain 461.

In the first quarter, Troy gave up a touchdown to Georgia Southern on a drive that took only three plays after senior wide receiver Chandler Worthy coughed up the ball on the kickoff return.

Troy’s defense held its own for a while before allowing the Eagles to score again late in the first quarter.

The second quarter started off with a 25-yard field goal by sophomore kicker Ryan Kay to get the Trojans on the board.

Unfortunately, that would be the last time Troy would score until late in the fourth quarter.

Third down conversions killed the Trojans all night. The defense could not stop Georgia Southern from converting on 10 out of 13 third down situations. Troy only converted on two out of 10 third down situations.

At halftime, the Trojans went into the locker room down 21-3 and the Eagles would receive the kickoff after the half.

The second half was not very bright for Troy either.

Georgia Southern’s running game was relentless throughout the whole game as the Eagles rushed for 421 yards against the Trojans.

Troy’s passing game was very poor on Thursday as redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Silvers and junior quarterback Dontreal Pruitt combined for a total of 13 passing yards.

In the fourth quarter, Troy gave up two more touchdowns to the Eagles dominant offense and senior running back Khary Franklin scored the Trojans’ only touchdown of the night on a three-yard run.
