Cross Country closes regular season with meet

Trojans prepare for Sun Belt championship meet on Oct. 31


The Troy cross country program ended its regular season in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the Crimson Classic. Facing some of the SEC’s premier schools such as Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn, Troy fought hard and ended strong to hang with the Power Four attendees. 


As a whole, the Troy men’s team finished 19th in the contest and the women's squad finished 22nd in total. 

 

Lane Watson led the men’s team with a time of 25:55.4 and a 92nd place finish.  

Keith Warner was close behind, finishing with a 26:00.06 time and a 98th place finish. 

Caden Blackman was third on the team, clocking in at 26:21.2 finish --  Patterson Graham was right behind with a time of 26:50.9. Rounding out the Trojans lineup was Gavan Baxley with a time of 27:06.8, Ethan Newsome with a time of 27:37.0 and Bennet Phillips with a time of 28:25.2The Trojans ended up with 485 points as a team. 


For the women, Makenna Calbert led Troy with a 110th place finish and a time of 22:30.9, which was her fourth consecutive time leading the Trojans. Arianna Elder finished in 23:08 and a placed 136th.  


Abigail Carr had a 24:28.7 finish, Aisley McMeen had a 24:37.2 finish, and Giulianna Rivero had a 26:50.1 finish to round out the lineup for the women. 


The Trojans look to win the Sun Belt Conference Title in the conference championship meet on Oct. 31 in Foley, Alabama.
