This semester, the Office of Career Services is continuing its Workshop Wednesday series, which provides support for students preparing for future career goals and aspirations.
The workshops, which began last semester, will cover different career development topics including resumes, LinkedIn, networking and finding jobs.
Not only can students learn essential skills during the workshops, but they also have the opportunity to learn about the on-campus resources available to them.
“We just wanted to help better support and prepare students for that long term goal of getting that good career that they are wanting,” said Alecia Womack, assistant director of career services. "I would love for students to come and hear all of the amazing things that we are able to offer them and help them with […] to get internships, interviews, jobs and things like that.”
The resources are not limited to the workshops, however. Students can make appointments for additional support by visiting the Office of Career Services in Eldridge Hall.
One student expressed how the resources helped him feel more confident and prepared to take the first step in job seeking.
"In February 2025 I [visited] a career fair, and I did not have a resume,” said Vrund Shah, a graduate student in business analysis from Gujarat, India. “The one I had was old and I was not liking it, so I started over.
“The career advisor here helped me to build a resume, and it was looking amazing. I felt really confident to show my resume and give my resume to employers.”
Shah stressed the importance of attending career fairs and networking events.
“It’s good to come to the career fairs, have a resume ready and just give it to employers,” Shah said. “In the future they might contact you back.”
The full schedule of Workshop Wednesdays can be found on the Office of Career Services’ on Instagram at @troyucareer. This semester, they are being held in Eldridge Hall at 10 a.m.
