Lane Watson and Keith Warner represented the Trojans at the NCAA South Regional in Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday. The duo closed out the 2025 cross country season.

The regional is a championship where collegiate teams from the southern region compete for a place in the national championship. The Trojan duo faced off against many runners hailing from schools like Ole Miss, Georgia, Chattanooga and several others.

“I’m really pleased with the efforts from Lane and Keith today,” said head coach Brian Cunningham. “It was their first 10k in cross country, and they moved to eighth and eleventh on the Troy all-time list.

“They did a good job of moving through the field and improving their positioning throughout the race. This was a good culminating event as we turn our focus to the track season.”

This marked Troy’s first time back at the regional since last appearing in 2022. It was also both runners’ first time running a 10k race for cross country. Both Watson and Warner acquired personal bests and placed in Troy’s top 15 in the programs 10k history.

Sophomore Watson placed 126th, logging a personal best of 32:48.95. Junior Keith Warner was close behind, placing 138th and finishing with a personal best of 33:07.00.

The regional concluded the 2025 cross country season. Now, the Trojans will focus on getting prepared for the indoor track season.
