The sixth annual Health and Wellness Fair will be held on April 8 at the Trojan Fitness and Wellness Center from 2 to 4 p.m.
“The goal of the health fair is to promote the overall well-being of the student body by educating them on different information and resources around campus and the city,” said Mary Frances Gainey, program coordinator of campus recreation and co-planner of the fair.
“We are aiming to increase health awareness, promote healthy lifestyles, support mental health and encourage community engagement while connecting students to resources.”
The Health and Wellness Fair will have a variety of tables set up in the MAC court of the Recreation Center. Some of the tables will include P4 Physical Therapy, Alabama Department of Public Health, Career Services and Troy Regional Hospital.
“The tables will be based on the eight dimensions of wellness such as emotional, occupational and physical,” said Matthew Pisarski, assistant director of campus recreation and co-planner of the fair.
At the fair, students will be able to browse the tables and learn about the different resources available on and off campus that will help them improve their physical and mental health.
The fair will also have tables for different clubs and organizations like the Nutrition Club and Weightlifting Club, giving students the chance to find community with other students to join them on their health journeys.
“The health fair at Troy University’s Recreation Center is an incredible resource for students – it brings awareness, access and education all into one space,” said Georgia Bagdonas, a sophomore business major from Huntsville and a personal trainer at the Rec Center.
“It empowers students to take charge of their well-being by connecting them with valuable health services, knowledgeable professionals and practical tools that support both their academic success and overall quality of life.”
According to Pisarski, if students cannot make it to the event but would still like resources, they can email troycampusrec@troy.edu.
