Spooky season has started, and on Troy’s campus, that means it is time for Troyapalooza, the annual Halloween bash for students. The event willtake place at the amphitheater and the plaza behind the International Arts Center (IAC) on Oct. 28, once again.

Troyapalooza is a free arts festival with a student focus that will kickstart at 6:30 p.m. This is a unique event that happens yearly before Halloween.Troyapalooza is also included in Troy’s Homecoming Week of events.

“Troyapalooza is a wonderful event that brings all of the arts together,” said Director and Curator of the IAC Carrie Jaxon. “Having support by other departments around the university is significant because we don’t have another event that fosters this collaborative effort.

“It’s a really great way to show the spirit of collaboration and create something that students can enjoy for free.”

At this event, students can screen print their own t-shirts, take part in an inflatable built by Troy students, take photos in the photo booth and more. A concert by the student band POPulous will begin at 7 p.m. Lots of food like fried oreos, funnel cakes, drinks and more can also be enjoyed at this event.

Troyapalooza is free for students and open for everyone to enjoy.

A costume contest will also be during the event. Everyone is encouraged to come wearincostumes and enjoy the arts at Troy University. Costumes will be judged, and prizes will be given out by the Student Government Association (SGA). Winners of the contest will be announced during the break inPOPulous’ concert.

Troyapalooza began back in 2020 to give students a reprieve from Covid, where they could celebrate the various arts programs here at Troy. Multiple organizations are helping to sponsor this event and hold various activities.

With the support of the university, Troyapalooza is also sponsored by the School of Music, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, University Activities Council (UAC), SGA, Student Services, Sorrell College of Business, International Student Services, Troy University Libraries, Department of Art and Design and the IAC. All of these organizations will work together to create this arts festival for students to enjoy.
