An update to Troy’s original shuttle app is now in place, bringing improvements for students who rely on the shuttle service. Trip Shot, Troy’s Transportation Services new shuttle app, will help students track the location of shuttles and request rides throughout the day.

Before, students would have to wait and guess the timing of shuttles arriving. Now, Trip Shot will provide that information automatically.

“It'll definitely benefit them with just everyday routes and stuff,” said Student Services Coordinator Cole Curtis. “Instead of having to just guess where the bus is, they'll be able to really know and pinpoint track it with the app too.

“Hopefully it'll work a lot better than the Transloc app, because we've had a lot of trouble with that.”

Students can be specific with their requests by scheduling times and dates for pickups as well as drop offs.

“I live at the Arch, which is far away from the campus, so I think it is convenient,” said Feun Cui, a sophomore business major from China. “Sometimes I wait for the bus for a long time, but all the things are good.”

Devendrá Devra, a junior computer science major from Nepal, looks forward to the new app.

“The shuttle is a must here in an area like Troy where many international students face challenges with public transportation, so it’s good we have the shuttle app here, and it will probably save time,” Devra said. “

On average you waste more than 10 to 20 minutes per day if you don’t have a car.

“The app will most definitely help to figure out shuttle routes for new students.”

With this update, all routes will continue to remain the same.

The routes are divided into five groups, providing options for the different on-campus and off-campus locations.

“I think it would bring a lot of benefit, because a lot of the students don't know when the shuttles come or where they even go, and they don't even know how they work,” said Riley Jacobs, a sophomore political science major from Phenix City, Alabama. “They just kind of ask around, so I think it would be really helpful if those students had something to look at.”

Trip Shot will be up and running in January.

Students will soon be able to download the app on any digital device through the app store.
