Troy releases both basketball program’s Sun Belt schedule

After the historic season where Troy men’s basketball won the Sun Belt Conference Championship for the second year in a row, and a year when Troy women’s basketball went to the WBIT, both programs are looking to prioritize success in the 2026-27 season.

On the men’s side, the SBC-MAC challenge brings the UMass Minutemen to Trojan Arena on Nov. 2. For the women, they will travel to Kent State, where they will take on the Golden Flashes in Ohio on the same day.

For the Sun Belt opener, the men will play host to the conference newcomers in the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at Trojan Arena on Dec. 16, while the women are set to face the ULM Warhawks in Trojan Arena on the same day.

"I like several things about our SBC schedule for the upcoming season," said head coach Chanda Rigby. "I'm trusting our fans show up with enthusiasm and help us begin with a win.”

Deep into winter break for most students, the men’s team will face Coastal Carolina at home on Dec. 19 and will travel to Boone, North Carolina, and play the App. State Mountaineers on New Years Eve. On the women’s side, the team will pack its bags and head to Atlanta to play the Georgia State Panthers on Dec 19, followed by a home court match against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Dec. 30.

Both programs will face the James Madison Dukes on Jan. 2 with the men being in Virginia, while the women will be in Trojan Arena. On Jan. 6, the men will challenge the Georgia State Panthers in town, while the women battle Coastal Carolina in an away game.

The women’s team faces a long road trip following the Coastal game. They’ll hit the road to play Georgia Southern, Southern Miss and Arkansas State on Jan. 9, 13 and 16, respectively. The men have it a little easier that week as they will play host to Georgia Southern, hit the road for a Southern Miss game and then head back to Troy for a contest against ULM. Those games are slated for Jan. 9, 13 and 16, respectively.

The men then head to a new place to see a new face: Ruston, Louisiana, and the atmosphere of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Jan. 21. Quickly following that game, they’ll take a short road trip to face the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. The women will battle App State at home on Jan. 23, then head to Monroe, Louisiana, and play ULM.

The women’s team will get its first matchup against LA Tech in Ruston on Jan. 30, then play the South Alabama Jaguars in Troy on Feb. 3. The men’s team faces two formidable foes: Rivals Down South on Jan. 27 and Arkansas State on Jan. 30, both at home.

The men will get a little road trip action with a trip to play ULM on Feb. 3, and then a longer one against a to be announced opponent from the MAC on Feb. 6. The women will face a MAC squad on Feb. 6 in Trojan Arena.

Following the MAC-SBC challenge, the women hit the road to play Louisiana on Feb. 11 and South Alabama on Feb. 13. The Trojans will then be at home for their last four Sun Belt games against Southern Miss on Feb. 17, Arkansas State on Feb. 20, Louisiana Tech on Feb. 23 and Louisiana on Feb. 26.

On the men’s side, the Trojans hit the road for most of their last Sun Belt games after the MAC-SBC challenge. They start with a home stand against Louisiana on Feb. 10, head to Arkansas State on Feb. 13, travel to South Alabama on Feb. 18, face Southern Miss at home on Feb. 20 and finish the season on the road against Marshall on Feb. 26.

“Of course, I'm excited for the two doubleheaders where our fans can see both our women and men play,” Rigby said. “Also, it's great to know that our last four conference games will be played in Trojan Arena in front of our fans."

Quickly following the regular season, the Trojans will face a Sun Belt gauntlet in the annual conference tournament at the Bay Center Arena in Pensacola, Florida. Regardless of conference standing, both men’s and women’s teams will represent Troy on the biggest stage in the Sun Belt.
