Troy baseball returners set for the 2027 season

Troy Baseball reached a historic milestone in Omaha, Nebraska, over the summer, making its first College World Series appearance. Three of the key players who helped the Trojans get there are returning for the 2027 season.

Jimmy Janicki, Houston Markham and Jabe Boroff will return to the Troy Trojans after each contributed during Troy’s regular and post-season run. The trio played a key role in Troy’s 12-8 comeback victory over Ole Miss in an elimination game at the College World Series.

Following the comeback, head coach Skylar Meade pointed to the team’s ability to fight through adversity.

“You fight through things when you’re a winner,” Meade said. “Losers stop when it gets tough, and that’s not what our guys do.

“It's the greatest compliment you can give is that you're tough and you're a winner. We've had this kind of talk with our team in the sense that people don't remember your stats. They remember if you're a winner or not.

“That's the line of denomination, if you are remembered in a program.”

Janicki tied the game at six with a solo home run in the seventh inning before Boroff gave Troy its first lead with a two-run double. Markham followed with an RBI single to extend the Trojans’ lead.

“It means a lot,” Boroff said. “Whenever I'm out there, I just want to play good for the guys, and it's all about the team at the end of the day.

“We have an amazing coaching staff that prepares us really well whenever teams flip scripts or whenever they bring somebody out of the pen. We always are fed the correct information, or the best information to our knowledge of what we're getting and what we're getting ourselves into.

“So just being prepared and staying confident in the box.”

With Janicki, Markham and Boroff returning, Troy has even more to look forward to for the 2027 season.
