Many gathered Tuesday morning to watch Troy Regional Medical Center (TRMC) unveil its new logo – a visual change leaders say represents a deeper commitment to the community.
Before the unveiling, TRMC CEO Rick Smith addressed the crowd, emphasizing that while the hospital’s outward appearance may have changed, its core values remain the same.
“Our rebranding is more than a new name, a new logo or a refreshed look,” Smith said. “It’s a reflection of who we are, what we stand for and where we are headed.

“It symbolizes our commitment to excellence, patient care, innovation and community partnership. We’re celebrating not just a new brand, but the bright future of health care here in our region.
“Together, we will continue to grow, lead and care with excellence in our hearts.”
Sherill Crowe, a chairman on the TRMC Board of Trustees, echoed Smith’s message.
“A hospital is more than brick and mortar,” Crowe said. “It’s a promise that we’re going to take care of you.”
The new logo was designed by Studio 207, a multimedia company founded by a group of Troy alumni. Studio 207 CEO and Co-owner Reanna Thompson said the company formed when the members were still undergraduate students.
“We met during our junior year of college in classroom 207 in the art and design department,” Thompson said. “We realized we all worked well together and realized that [Studio 207] might have the legs to be something more than just assignments.”
Studio 207 was hired to rebrand TRMC while its members were still juniors, marking the company’s first professional client.
“This was the first job we were hired for,” Thompson said. “We went through hundreds of iterations of the logo, but Rick [Smith] told us that he liked the first logo we made.
“The first one that we made is the logo that is on the sign right now.”
Smith explained why he decided to take a chance on a group of college students for TRMC’s rebranding.
“We have a great relationship with the university,” Smith said. “One of the professors said ‘Hey, you need to look at this group, they’re a startup company.’
“We were their first client. It’s really been a great relationship.”
According to Smith, Troy Regional Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 rural hospitals in the nation — and the only one in Alabama. The new signage can be seen from Highway 231.
