Tornado touches down in Troy, none injured

Scott SheltonSports editor Pike County experienced severe weather and a tornado Tuesday morning, causing damage in the northern parts of the county near the Troy Municipal Airport. Damage was reported near Pike County Road 1177. A tree fell on a home in this area, but no one in the house was injured, according to WSFA. WSFA also reported damage near Pike County Road 2243. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said a house and a barn along Oak Grove Road, which is just south of the airport, sustained damage. NOAA confirmed a tornado touch-down southwest of Pike County Road 1, which is approximately 2.5 miles southeast of the airport in north Pike County. Chances of rain will return this weekend with a 20% chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
