Seniors who participate in the class project are given a medallion to wear at graduation.
The Student Government Association (SGA) is inviting senior students to participate in the 2025 Senior Class Project, giving them a chance to leave a lasting impact before graduation.
“The senior project is a way for our seniors to give back to the university through community service,” said SGA President Caleb Smith, a junior risk management and insurance major from Gadsden, Alabama.
The 2025 Senior Class Project supports the Trojan Pantry Hunger Initiative Fund, providing students in need with non-perishable food items and supplies. The fund also supports local children with backpacks filled with school supplies.
Each year, SGA partners with the Office of Development to make this initiative possible.
“We talk a lot about being Trojans one and all,” Smith said. “It's really cool to see how one student can help give back to other students who are in need.
“It really is just a great way to show your love for Troy University, show your Trojan pride and uphold that ‘Trojans one and all’ mentality.”
Graduating seniors who donate $25or more are rewarded with a medallion that can be worn during their graduation ceremony. The medallion is engraved with the Troy University seal and their class year. It symbolizes each student’s participation and willingness to give back to the school.
“Not only can you get something to remember your time at Troy, but you can also show your appreciation for the university,” Smith said.
“This university has given me not only a great foundation for my future, but also amazing opportunities, lifelong friendships and many valuable resources to continue my success,” said Betsy Bennett, a senior human services major from Eufaula, Alabama. “What better way to show my appreciation than to give back to the students who will be coming after me.
“Just a simple donation of $25 can make a meaningful difference.”
This year is the third annual Senior Class Project. The project was started by the 2023 SGA Executive Committee as a way to leave a lasting legacy before graduation. The project supports the Trojan Pantry every year.
Students have up until graduation to leave their donation. You can find the link to donate on the Troy University website. Medallions can be picked up on graduation day.
