As part of Welcome Week, Taste of Troy brought a crowd of people downtown last Friday to celebrate the businesses that call Troy home.

“Our mission is to get students connected to the business community,” said IDEA Bank Director Lynne George.

George said Taste of Troy provided a chance for students to familiarize themselves with the surrounding area and see all the businesses Troy has to offer.

In addition to giving students an opportunity to step out of their shell, Taste of Troy promoted local businesses and gave them an opportunity to connect with students. During the event, local businesses reached out to students in a casual setting.

For Alyssa Daigneaultt, a freshman psychology major from Chelsea, Alabama, Taste of Troy provided an opportunity to meet new people.

“I think that events like this are really able to bring people together,” Daigneaultt said. “You’re able to meet so many different people and so many different personalities, and I think it’s so cool getting to […] meet people that you might not have met if it wasn’t for events like this.”

Taste of Troy wasn’t just geared toward Troy University students but also new businesses. A new bakery, Shiloh’s Arc, was just one of the new names present at the event.
