Potential Trojans see what Troy has to offer

Spring Trojan Day allowed potential students to see what Troy University has to offer. Students were introduced to  clubs, organizations, campus living and academic programs through an annual preview day with a browse session.

The browse session was held in Trojan Arena.

“Everybody was just really nice, and it was not super overwhelming,” said SK Marvin, a senior at Evangel Christian School from Alabaster, Alabama. “I'm not super panicked about what decision needs to be made.

“I am just really laid back and ready to figure out what I need to do to take the next step.”

Throughout the browse sessions, high schoolers as well as parents were able to receive Troy merch, academic program pamphlets and meet admission counselors.

“This event is really just exposing all that Troy can offer you holistically, so, just the fact that upcoming students can be part of a club, get involved, and also learn from the academic professors and the deans how their curriculum can help students succeed is important,” said Jake Brown, Troy’s regional admissions counselor. “Also, internship opportunities are presented here as well.”

There are over 250 clubs and organizations that students can join.

After the browsing session, a presentation about admissions, scholarships and housing was given.

Lunch was provided shortly afterward. To conclude the day, the families and students in attendance were divided up into groups for a final campus tour.

The spring session is for students that are still finalizing their decision before the upcoming fall semester.

However, this event was not limited to only high school seniors. High schoolers in the 10th and 11th grade got an early start on making their college decision as well.

“Sometimes this is the only experience that students have touring campus before they attend as students,” said Abby Reed, a Trojan Ambassador and a senior environmental science major from Talladega, Alabama. “This really makes a huge impression on students coming to Troy and deciding on their college search.

“It’s just a really big event because high schoolers and their families get to talk to a lot of people, and it’s a really exciting time.”

A browse session is usually held in the fall and spring academic semesters. Students in clubs and organizations on campus are encouraged to reach out to admission counselors and be a part of these events.
