Morgan Long to be President as students elect new SGA administration

Zach HensonEditor-in-ChiefPradyot SharmaSection Editor Morgan Long will be the Student Government Association (SGA) president for the 2019-2020 academic year; he won Wednesday’s general election with 51.99 percent of votes cast for president “I went crazy,” said Long. “(I) jumped up and down and was fist bumping my roommate. (I) couldn’t believe I had won.” Long said that he wanted students to know that he would serve everyone. “I am here to represent everyone equally and I will do that to the fullest of my ability,” he said. Joining Long on SGA’s administrative team will be Molly Grace Womack, who will be the vice president of legislative affairs, Tristan Black, as vice president of campus activities, Nicole Jayjohn, as director of representation, and Allie Higgins, as director of administration. Polls were conducted through a survey sent out on the Troy email system and were open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6. “Going forward I see the SGA communicating better to students and representing everyone equally,” Long said. “We are going to be here for our fellow students and make changes for the betterment of our daily lives as Trojans!” The Final vote tally for all positions were: President- Morgan Long 1,212 votes (51.99 percent) Carter Ray received 596 votes (25.57 percent) Taylor Holt  received 523 votes (22.44 percent). Vice President of Legislative Affairs (VPLA)- Molly Grace Womack 1186 votes (51.57 percent) Ashlan Kelley  1,114 votes (48.43 percent). Vice President of Campus Activities- Tristan Black (Unopposed). Director of Representation– Nicole Jayjohn (Unopposed) Director of Administration – Allie Higgins 1,333 votes (59.36 percent) Coleman Norris  951 votes (41.64 percent). The Tropolitan has reached out to Carter Ray and Taylor Holt for comments and will update this story as more information is available. Editors’ Note: The print version of the Tropolitan on March 72019 has the vote tally for Morgan Long as 52.99 percent. This was due to a print error in the initial SGA release. It has since been updated to the actual tally of 51.99 percent
