A revamped Troy men’s tennis team started its 2025 fall season at the ITA All-American Championships over the weekend. While the Trojans didn’t win a match, they competed against high-level competition on a national stage.
"We gained valuable experience coming here and playing some of the best teams in the nation," said head coach Rolando Vargas. "We created opportunities and played at a very high level.
“We belong here, but unfortunately we couldn't close out matches."

Troy’s roster has had quite a bit of turnover for this upcoming season. Troy added three players: Louis Boilevin, Ryusei Miyazato and Stephan Noale.
"I'm really excited for these new players coming in," Vargas said. "They are a great addition to the Troy family, but what stands out the most is their character.
“They are also great players and will represent Troy University well."
Boilevin, the Honfleur, France, native, is coming to Troy after being a top player for the Division II school Cameron. He was ranked No. 22 nationally during his sophomore season.
"Louis has the experience of being a top player in Division II,” Vargas said. “He's going to give us a lot of depth, and it will be great to develop him and see what he can contribute to the lineup."
Miyazoto is from Okinawa, Japan, and already has chemistry with Troy sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto as they played together previously.
Noale is coming all the way from São Paulo, Brazil. He was ranked as high as No. 168 in the ITF Junior rankings.
Troy finished out its experience at the ITA All-American Championship located in Tulsa, Okla., and Stillwater, Okla. On Sunday due to weather.
After losing some close sets on Saturday to Memphis, Yeray Andres Pastor and Luciano Alcocer played in a doubles match against Hawaii’s Azuma Visaya and Timothy Li on Sunday. The Trojans ended up losing 6-3, 6-3.
Playing against the Tigers to start the tournament, the duo won the first set but fell in the tiebreak 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 after holding a 7-4 lead in the tiebreak set.
After falling to Vasco Prata from Charlotte 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in a close match on Saturday, Andres Pastor faced Georgia Tech’s Giancula Carlini in the singles consolation draw on Sunday. He lost the match against him 6-1, 6-1.
The Trojans continue their fall season starting next Monday at the ITF Futures Tournament in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The tournament runs from Monday, Sep. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 5.
