After going 2-0 last week, Troy men’s tennis continued its winning ways in the final match of the season against the Georgia Southern Eagles. Before the match started, the Trojans celebrated senior day and recognized seniors Nicolas Simkin, Noah Martens and Vincente Arbelaez.

Simkins and Martens helped the Trojans start off hot with a win in their doubles match.

However, the Eagles would win the other two doubles matches and take a 1-0 lead against the Trojans.

The Trojans would not be discouraged, however, with Martens getting his 11th win of the season in the No. 3 spot to get the Trojans level with the Eagles.

Luciano Alcocer would break the tie and give the Trojans a 2-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the fifth spot to finish the regular season with a 14-4 record in singles play.

Simkin also came out on top in his final home match as a Trojan with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot to give the Trojans a 3-1 lead.

Hiiro Sakamoto would put a ribbon on his stellar freshman regular season campaign with a 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 4 spot to give him his 20th win of the season and clinch a 4-1 win for the Trojans. Troy handed the Eagles their only Sun Belt Conference loss.

The fourth-seeded Trojans finish the season a four-match winning streak and will take on the fifth seeded Louisiana Ragin Cajuns in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament Friday at 9 a.m. at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.

The semifinals are set for Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the championship match taking place Sunday at 12 p.m. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
