Men’s golf takes 14th at Shoal Creek Invite

Troy Athletics photo Freshman Brent Hamm paced the Trojans behind the tee, placing 39th among individuals after shooting one-under in the first round before finishing the invite at eight-over.Dylan Hurst The Troy men’s golf team placed 14th out of a 15-team field at the Shoal Creek Invitational, which finished play this Tuesday at the Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama. First-round play was stopped on Monday evening after teams were still on the course after heavy storms hammered the area on Sunday. Freshman Brent Hamm (71-75-78—224) paced the Trojans, finishing in a tie for 39th place after his opening round of one-under and an overall score of eight-over. Senior Dean Martin (75-74-76—225) finished in a tie for 44th place with a final score of 9nine-over and a lowest score of two-over during his second round. Sophomore Connor Futrell (75-83-71—229) ended in a tie for 55th place after shooting a one-under in the final round. Freshman Will McFadden (79-81-79—239) finished play in 82nd place overall, and junior Jake Tiffin (81-77-87—245) finished in 86th place. Troy heads to a familiar sight next week as the Trojans travel to The Raven Golf Course at Sandestin in Miramar Beach, Fla., for the Sun Belt Championship.
