Troy men’s golf finished fourth at the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The tournament was hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club.

After a strong first day, Troy sat in second place but would slide a couple of spots in the final round of the tournament. The fourth-place finish came behind the winning Florida Atlantic, with FGCU and Sun Belt Conference foe Louisiana on the podium as well.

Jake Springer and Pablo Gracia led the way for Troy as they both tied for tenth place individually. Springer had an impressive 11 birdies, while Gracia had four in just the final round.

Nick Fowlkes and Lee Poppell both earned top-20 finishes as well. Fowlkes’ 14th place performance was helped by his three-over par performance in the final round. Poppell earned 19th place.

The fourth-place finish was among a field of 10 teams. While just two strokes away from tying Louisiana, other conference opponents James Madison and Coastal Carolina were trailing the Trojans by the end of it with sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively.

The Trojans will now look to close out regular season play with one final tune up at the Mossy Oak Collegiate hosted by Mississippi State next week. The Sun Belt Championship is just on the horizon, taking place Apr. 22-25.
