Recipe of the Week
I hate cooking chicken. It actually scares me. Plus, touching raw chicken is gross, and dino nuggets are so much more fun anyway. My boyfriend and I enjoy making this dish when we don't want to eat out or spend a lot of money, and we love cooking together. It started as, “Let's make chicken parm,” and turned into “Well, this store only has dino nuggets, so let's make it work.” This recipe combines several of my favorite foods: Dino nuggies, pasta and cheeeessse. It can be adjusted to feed more or less people, but my measurements could comfortably feed between two and four.
Ingredients:
- Dino nuggets, one bag (or any chicken, but don’t be lame. We’re archeologists here, digging out the dinos from the parm. Live a little.)
- Pasta, one box (any shape will work, I personally like shells or bowties for this recipe)
- Pasta sauce, one jar
- Mozzarella, shredded (it doesn't have to be mozzarella, that's just what I prefer. I guess parmesan would make it more … chicken parmy)
Things you need:
- Oven
- Baking dish that can fit all the stuff
- Maybe like, 30 minutes start to finish? I don't know, it depends on how fast you cook
Instructions:
- First pop the nuggets in the oven, following whatever directions are on the bag. You might want to let them get a little extra crispy to avoid sogginess from the sauce later.
- While the nuggets are cooking, make the pasta, following whatever directions are on the box. It's ok if they're slightly undercooked, they're going back in the oven later.
- Once the pasta is done, go ahead and mix the sauce with the pasta. Maybe add some cheese. Whatever makes you happy.
- Now that the nuggets and pasta are ready, you can begin to combine them. In a baking dish, start with a layer of nuggets, then pasta, then cheese, and repeat until pan is full. Top with remaining cheese to your heart’s desire.
- After you've layered your dish, put the whole thing back in the oven at 350° ~ish. Start with maybe five minutes but basically leave it in there until the cheese on top is golden and bubbly.
- Enjoy!!
