As another semester begins, new and returning students will soon be looking for ways to let loose at the end of the week. Momma Goldberg’s Deli recently announced it will be the host of a new Friday night activity.

Karaoke nights will now be held every Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Momma Goldberg’s on the Downtown Square. It’s a family-friendly event, and all ages are welcome to watch or perform.

“It’s a fun way to de-stress after a long week,” said Kaylin Cichocki, the store’s assistant manager. “We realized the only place to do karaoke in Troy is bars in Troy, and not everyone is able to get into bars or wants to go to them.”

Troy residents won’t be the only people benefiting from this addition. With so many on-campus food options and fast food restaurants right outside of campus, getting business may be a struggle for other restaurants in Troy. Momma Goldberg’s hopes that these new karaoke nights will gain them some more attention.

“We hope to have more students choosing Momma Goldberg’s for lunch and dinner in the future,” Cichocki said.

While the event is for people of all ages, Cichocki said Momma Goldberg’s is making an effort for the event to be fun for adults and people of legal drinking age as well, not just students too young to get into bars.

“People can come in and just hang out,” Cichocki said. “We’re trying to draw people into that aspect.”

Momma Goldberg’s is still looking for live performers to play on Thursday nights. Those interested can call  (334) 808-1181, message them on Instagram @mommags.troy or ask about opportunities in person.
